5:47 pm - brain fried

My brain is freakin' fried.  I need to get some sleep.  I hope Rachel doesn't kill me if I fall asleep during Nip Tuck.  Not that I would be able to follow along after missing a season anyway.

I don't care if I'm tired, I'm going to enjoy some quality time with my bestest girlfriend.  MAYBE we won't drive each other crazy tonight, as usual.  Then again, who am I kidding?  I'm sure I will want to strangle her as usual.

10 bucks she talks my ear off about her psycho ex sugar daddy boy toy.  Yeah, that's just what I want to hear about after working my ass off all week.  Meh, I'm used to it.

10:20 pm - I feel the hookah comming on...
Just went for a run, and I've got Sylvester all over me being the attention whore that he is. How did I end up with you fatso? Off to the shower, and over to Nick's to smoke the hookah. Vanguard might be in my future tonight. I might even pass Jason off as Jewish. How the hell am I going to do that? Maybe he absorbed something from living w/ me for 2 years other than being frugal w/ money. I just spell checked everything I wrote, and it came back w/ no errors. How is that possible? Maybe this whole writing for the paper thing has helped w/the old spelling. It got my blood pumping again to say the least. Has singing always been a part of the Miss America Pagent? Don't ask me why its on, or why its on the Country Music Channel.

Got the internet back today, that was nice.

I need new exhaust for the charger. I'll tell you though, that the Big Fish purrs better than Sylvester... no offence boy... and wow, Ms. Virginia is WAY off key. Ballet on point? What? I need to turn thois off. Ms. Oklahoma is HOT. I wonder what dating a girl who is in pagents would be like? I'll probably find out one day, just out of idle curiosity. OFF TO SHOWER!

11:26 pm - Amazing...
It's simply amazing how much you can accomplish in a 20 second conversation outside of Canter's Deli, versus a sit down over dinner and drinks (and maybe some bagel chips). After waiting for over an hour for the boys, and not having them show up, after getting ready to leave, we sit outside on the curb waiting for them, and they roll up. With a wink, a nod, and an "I need to talk to you... and you... tomorrow", it was done.

I'm thinking tomorrow's the big day for the unveiling of the corporation, and its buying of Porche's in Jason and my names.

11:26 pm - back up and online
I have internet again. Thank you Tanjee. I think I'll start by recapping last saturday:

Woke up, dropped by the Tropicana, and as usual made new "friends". I only quote because you can never tell who your real friends are in this town. I was bitching to my neighbor about that just recently, but thats a different story.

Dropped by work, finished up what I needed to. I came back home, showered, then got ready for the evening.

Planned on heading over to Red Bhudda since I've never checked it out on a Sat. night, but ended up getting invited to Cabana Club. I forgot how awesome a coat check can be. Los Angeles needs to start copying New York in that regard. BTW, lets take a minute out to recognize coat check girls everywhere.

With that said, after spending 3 times more than what should be legal on drinks, I got invited over to Ivar and drank free for the rest of the night. I was tossed to the point where the balance board was unable to be balanced on.

Based on Sat night, Xavi is now the offical C Block of the year winner. I've never been more intentionally/unintentionally intercepted while socializing w/ the opposite sex than I have w/ her. Oh well... god bless. She crazy.

More drama to write about, but I'll hold that off until tomorrow.

It's good to be back online.

current mood: cheerful

9:46 pm - since I havn't written in a while...
Thought I might update w/ this letter I wrote to Sammy. More or less it sums up everything going on w/ me...

Dearest Sammy,

How are things? I realize that's a cleche way to start a correspondance, but I really would like to know. I've tried getting in touch w/ you over the last couple of weeks, but unfortunatly, due to overcrowding in the phones, or not getting to you in time on Sundays, I havn't had the opportunity. I miss you a lot, and hate not being able to keep in touch as often as I'd like.

Oh, and if I don't get the opportunity, happy Valentines day! Like it or not, you're still someone near and dear to my heart. I'd send you some flowers or a card, but I'm sure you can appreciate the imposibility due to our remote "exotic" locals.

Oh, speaking of which, I leave this shit hole in a few weeks. Yay! I know I mentioned it before, but I'm excited. Actually I'm not as excited as I though I'd be. I think part of it is being anxious. I've had a lot of time to think and plan (and scheme mwahahaha), and when I get back I actually have to put those plans in to motion. I'm in a position where I can actually make some of my dreams reality. Traveling has been what's been on the foremost of my mind. When I'm done w/ that I think I'm going to just take a month off and do nothing. I havn't done that since I can remember. I'd like to build something. I still don't have a coffee table in my place. I'd love to get something old and refinish it. My dad instilled this DIY attitude in my brain, but I never felt I had the time to follow through with home projects like that.

Speaking of my dad, he just got surgery. What's more he and my mom didn't bother to tell me until he was done with it! I wasn't too happy that they didn't tell me. They said "I had enough to worry about", but I hate not knowing stuff like that. I could have at least said a prayer for him or something. He got surgery on his stomach to help him lose weight. By this time next year he's expecting to be 180 lbs. That's less than I weigh! He's already off half of the medications he's normally on. He's got such a possitive outlook on the whole thing, and I'm really proud of him for that.

Oh, I keep forgetting to tell you, but you can have your copy of Angels and Demons back. Ha! I finally read it. I finished it in like 2 days. I read DaVinci Code right after that. I hear the movie is due to come out right when I get back. I also heard a rumor that Robert Langdon is going to be played by none other than Tom Hanks? Intriguing.

So as I sit here in the middle of schitzophrenic Arabia bringing this message to a close, I hope life has been treating you well so far this year. So far I feel a little bit older, and a little bit wiser. Mostly I feel too sober. I need to get back on the fast track to AA and fast! Kidding, kidding. Anyways, all I ask of you in the new year is that you stay happy.

Love always,

Brian

4:58 pm - Just counting down the days...
It's nice to be able to do that... count down the days... All I can talk about is sushi. I don't even care about getting laid when I get back. All I want is sushi.

4:55 pm - regular day...
same shit, different day. just finished a Nicholas Sparks novel. "A Walk to Remember". Yeah, it's a sappy love story. So what? I finished it by noon, so it's not like it took TOO much of my life away from me. It was a lot different from the Mandy Moore (however you spell her last name) movie. I'm moving on to "The Notebook" next.

10:42 am - last 24....
I just caught up on all my sleep. I went to bed at 1800 last night (6:00 PM for those not in the military). I work up at like 4 the next morning, which was good as I wanted to go work out and go to the internet. the internet went down unfortunately

I've given plenty of thought on what I plan to do w/ my money when I get home. I'm not going spend crazy, i'm going to put most of it away, but you can definitly count on seeing either an XBOX 360 or a PS3 in my livingroom. more than likely the xbox360, it's got a lot of cool features that no one else would use that are perticularly of interest to me. not that you care. I also plan on upgrading a few things, like some furnature. i'm putting buying a place on hold for a few months. i want to see where the market goes and what I can buy

got bike fixed
got hit by a truck one week later
went to new york for the first time
went to San Francisco
started dating my best female friend of 2 years
got dumped by girl for going to Iraq
oh yeah... got put on active duty and had to leave pimp pad to live in the styx of the high cali desert
found out how easy being single is
found out how hard being single is
got sent to iraq to leave a cushy life of beverly hills office job by day and hollywood bar fly/indie rock night life

realized i wouldn't trade having served as a U.S. Marine for anything else
thought a lot about home

realized how complicated love can be

present: waiting out the next couple months to come home.

new years resolution: keep in shape and make all my dreams come true when I get home

12:49 pm - back behind the wire...
The internet cafe doesn't have a line. WTF? Is there a strip bar that just opened up on base that I'm not aware of? Normally this place is packed. Oh well, no complaints here.

Just got back off of the shift. Things are crazy busy right now. I'd love to write about it, but I'm going to hold off till next week.

T2 is playing on the big screen in the background. Not watching the screen makes you realize how much a 12 year old Eddie Furlong sounds like a girl.

7:56 pm - RIP going down...
the new kids are here in town... taking over for the old guys. We're going to be doing area security for camp fallujah for real soon. kinda nuts... we're ready, and we're ready to kick ass. It's been pretty quiet here lately, but we have a ton of things we're going to have to deal w/ until january. Life is good here so far. Sorry if this seems like a steam of conciousness, but I'm typing on a time limit. I'll write more when I can...

4:20 pm - just another day in paradise...
Updating once again. I'm not quite sure what to update about. It's Thanksgiving. Doesn't feel like thanksgiving. This is my favorite family holiday of the year. This is the one day I knew I'd miss the most. It's not as bad as I thought it would be. I hope they have some turkey in the chow hall tonight.

5:35 am - Back from the field.
Just got back from fun outside the wire. Good times all around, as I and everyone in my squad have all their fingers and toes. It was sooo good to get back here and have a hot meal. It happened to be seafood night that night, so we ended up having prime rib and lobster... hell yeah! That was the best tasting meal I'd probably ever had.

We spent the Marine Corps birthday in the field. We made a cake out of muffins we stuck together, and used cocoa beverage powder and crushed up crackers from the MRE's to make the icing. It didn't turn out too bad. I have tons of more stories, but I think I'm going to hold off a couple days to post them.

current mood: happy

5:30 pm - time flying by...
over a month, here, I don't feel like a veteran of a foreign war yet... maybe give it 30 years when I'm hanging out at the VFW? Who knows.

Thanks to Courtney I have the latest Maxim issue. I didn't realize they're growing MTV VJ's that hot these days! Holy smokes! AND she's in a naughty school girl uniform. JOY!!!

I got athlete's foot, not that anyone cares to know that, but it's annoying. Esp. when your feet are your money out here.

Just continuing to work out every day. Hopefully I can post pictures soon.

2:51 pm - Long ass day....
Once again, long ass day, can't write about it publically. Will publish memoirs when I get back. I'm exhausted...

Made friends w/ a Civillian contractor. He's an air force officer in the reserves. Helped him out w/ his camera array. I won't go in to detail but... hot damn... we've got some cool toys on this base... the end.

2:48 pm - fisher price my first sand storm...
oh great, just what I needed to bring in the winter months. I guess I'd been spoiled lately by the "modearate" temperature. Today slowly but surely the sky filled up with a grainy fog, and before we knew it there was an orange haze over everything from the fine dust mist that surrounded us going up 1,000 feet high in the sky.

I need those freakin' goggles to come in. Those are going to save my ass right now.

2:06 pm - Why???
Why did God have to torture me by putting two of the hottest females I've seen right in front of me in the computer line? It's not fair I tell you! I saw another gorgeous one (this one a navy corpsman) on the way back from chow. I mean, I suppose I could make moves. They're all within my pay grade, but I just don't think it's professional.

Other than that, had some cool stuff go on, but once again, I don't want to broadcast it for fear that Cobra uses it for the forces of evil. I'll write it down on good ol'lappy and update next week.
